Drone warfare in Ukraine: the new face of conflict
36 min / FR / HD / 2025
This documentary follows the daily life of Sasha, a 26-year-old pilot andgamer, in a position he holds alone with a comrade. An immersion behind closed doors in an underground shelter from where the young soldier launches his kamikaze drones loaded with explosives and napalm on Russian positions. Between strikes, which he experiences live, his eyes fixed on his immersive vision helmet, Sasha confides in his wife via FaceTime and his 3-year-old son, whom he barely knows, or escapes through video games.
Although located on the front line, the shelter is supposed to be safe, but on the second day there, it is spotted and then attacked by Russian drones. The two soldiers are forced to flee and abandon it.
This film offers a rare immersion, far removed from military communications. It recounts and documents this "transformation" of the conflict, revealing the daily life of a young man with inadequate equipment who struggles to distinguish between the reality of combat and the virtual world of his video games.
