The “collaborator”, that bastard, central figure of the Ukrainian conflict. Obsessed with “saboteurs”, the country has been tracking down those guilty of acts of treason since the first hours of the conflict. Mayors, teachers, priests, soldiers or ordinary people, they were the infiltrated agents in the service of Moscow. These collaborators are the “bête noire” of the Kiev government, which seeks to flush them out, including in its own ranks, sometimes at very high levels.
What excuses can they find for themselves? When a traitor denounces Ukrainian resistance fighters in an occupied region, they are almost systematically tortured. Often to death. How, then, can Ukraine not sink into a vendetta? How can justice be served in a country at war? Between the thirst for revenge and the will to assert itself as a European state under the rule of law, the Ukrainian justice system is caught up in the storm of war.
